Management focus has been involved with new wind turbine installations, glove box installations, decommissioning and demolition (D&D) activities at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, Rocky Flats Environmental Technology Site (RFETS) and the Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Project costs have ranged from $45K to $500M and have involved full responsibility for oversight of multiple sites; project controls and baselines; development of project management plans; contract proposal writing and negotiations; associations with numerous craft trades; assurance of strict compliance with safety, DOE regulations and environmental protection requirements. Active DOE “Q†clearance with the Human Reliability Program (HRP) access.

Project Manager, National Renewable Energy Laboratory
Responsible for the complete installation of two wind turbines, one GE (1.5MW) and Siemens (2.3MW). Duties include all field operations, engineering designs and concerns, scheduling and logistics on the two sites. Special instruments were installed in the bases of these wind turbines for the first time ever achieved in the United States. Monitoring will assist other manufacturers with the design, engineering and construction on their own turbines around the world. Projects involved the use of thirteen separate subcontractors. Projects completed on schedule and under budget.

Hired as a Project Manager to assist with the educating of the staff for TMPC in the functions required to perform full Project Management on various type projects. Oversaw the work on eight separate D&D and new installation projects at the site for TPMC. Contract cut short due to funding issues.

Served as the Director for the corporation over two different nuclear facilities for both construction and maintenance activities. Supervised a total of 72 employees in both facilities. Responsible for all demolition and installation of glove boxes and new equipment at TA-55. Saved LANL an estimated $700K on each glove box removal and even more than that on new glove box and equipment installations.

Performed all the functions associated with the responsibilities as a Project Manager managing projects inside of the TA-55, PF-4 pit manufacturing area. Involved with new construction and demolition activities within this area. Supervised one Construction Supervisor and all types of crafts on these various type projects. Responsible for all aspects of scope, cost, schedule and dealing directly with the client for this facility.

Consultant on an IVR Team
Served as a Consultant on a five man Implementation Validation Review (IVR) Team at the Portsmouth, Ohio DOE Site. Was the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all training, equipment maintenance and hazardous material records inventory for the UF6 Cylinder Storage yard. Wrote up the comments about the programs and procedures for this site, dealing with the Technical Safety Analysis (TSA’s) and Documented Safety Review (DSR) documents.

Oversaw forty facilities, including direct accountability for over 15,000 pieces of government property. Managed the disposition of property on five D&D projects; assuring critical accountability to meet closure requirements; direct off-site shipments of capital equipment to other DOE sites nationwide; and communicated regularly with DOE Headquarters, in order to give notice on available equipment for the DOE Complex.

Managed two large construction projects for DOE. Worked on the accelerated Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA) permitting for legal storage within the vaults, glove boxes and rooms in all nuclear buildings. Consulted with State of Colorado Environmental, Safety and Health Department and Attorney General’s Office, as well as the Defense Board, to assure that the RCRA guidelines were in compliance for legal storage at a nuclear facility.
